The Must-Have Tiles for 2017’s Top Interior Design Trends

This year we’re set to see homes bursting with new and exciting themes when it comes to tiles – colours will glitter, natural stone will shimmer and we’ll be rejoicing in retro.

Here we take a look at what are set to be the hottest tile trends for the most stylish homes in 2017.

Going retro with stone-effect tiles and wood-effect tiles

Natural materials will be a big hit again this year – with last year’s prominent concept of ‘bringing the outside in’ being somewhat overshadowed by all things retro. The emergence of themes reminiscent of 1960’s and 1970’s will be evident in interior design trends – everywhere from the kitchen to the bathroom. Parquet and herringbone flooring will be big, as will brick, natural stone and pale woods.

Taking a fresh approach to this, we’ll see wood-effect wall and floor tiles and stone-effect porcelain tiles being used to create a fabulous retro look, with less maintenance and a smaller price tag.

For a highly on-trend floor, the Pattaya collection of Porcel-Thin tiles is an exquisite choice. These wonderful wood-effect wall and floor tiles, in pale rice white and light wood, create a floor of charm and sophistication, or they can be used as wall tiles for a super retro look.

Patterns and coloured mosaic tiles will be a must-have for a statement making floor or wall. Go bold with the amazing choices in our Lagos mosaic tile collection – from lime green to stunning bright red.

Marble and marble-effect tiles

Having firmly established itself as an interior-design favourite, marble is going nowhere this year. Whether the real thing, or digitally produced marble-effect tiles, this beautiful ‘material of the moment’ will continue to feature all around the home. And we’ll be seeing marble tiles used alongside other natural materials and rustic designs, like wood and ceramic tiles, for a chic new twist.

With all the undeniable charm of natural stone tiles, marble-effect tiles are a strikingly realistic alternative. We have a magnificent selection, perfect for anywhere you wish to indulge in the luxury of this wondrous material – from the gorgeous swirling veins of Silk Silver and the earthy tones of Bardiglio from the Porcel-Thin range of marble-effect porcelain tiles, to the sublime White Cararra marble-effect wall tile, with its fabulous polished finish.

Warm tones and shimmering shades

Interior designs this year will see colours moving away from pale tones and toward fiery terracotta, bringing a dash of Med to the home. We’ll see terracotta tiles being used for feature walls in a bathroom or cladding around a fireplace, exuding character and warmth.

And we’ll be embracing jewel tones, taking inspiration from metals, clouds, space and stars. Metallics, quartz and opal will add sparkle to any space. Bring dazzling jewel tones to your home with our delightful Planet Gold Circle or Cosmos Grey and Black mosaic tiles; create depth with the Galaxy Black porcelain floor and wall tiles, or indulge in the luxurious tones of our Silver Natural wood-effect tile, with stunning knots and grained surface. Add a further shimmer of silver or gold with the amazing Kerakoll Fuga Tile Glitter Grout.

A place to escape

Quiet nooks and places to relax and unwind will become increasingly popular, as people seek a haven away from the bustle of modern life. Small or redundant areas of the home can be transformed into tranquil spaces, with wonderful relaxed furniture and shabby chic natural materials – embracing the Scandinavian ‘hygge’ concept of wellbeing.
